Issy Wood

Issy Wood was born in the United States in 1993. She now works and lives in London and graduated from the RA Schools London in 2018. Issy Wood's paintings explore the concepts of drama, gender, form and dress, present and history, gender and body, material and spirit. Her characters avoid gender identification, but use materials and materials to indicate sex. She USES nostalgic colors and techniques to interpret contemporary people and objects in her works, while abstracting from the temporality and identity of the present and history. Her work experiences illogical events and dramatic cities on social media in an uncomfortable way.

On the boundary between the material world and the imaginary world, Wood's works are exquisite like fetish, full of sad and tarnished material, reflecting the loss of material value sense of the community under the flow of material desire. Wood paints with a soft palette, and the compositions are often unsettling, using unusual distances and perspectives to excavate and remove material and character attractions. Her creative inspiration is wanton, not deliberately to define yourself as a style, also do not deliberately planning series, but her works has a high recognition degree, both from the writing skills and rendering of scene, both extremely impressed, she works not deliberately to please, and even let us bewilder, but cool, full of contemporary emerging light tragic color symbolism, the contradiction between her work and give the viewer into the impact of the heart.                        Script: Will Wang
