Marguerite Humeau

Marguerite Humeau was born in France in 1986 and graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 2011. She lives and works in Paris and London. It is difficult to define her as an artist, a scientist or a researcher of biological technology. Her creation and research move through these fields, exploring and discovering different Spaces and worlds that bring us thinking and influence.

Is there only one window of human existence? Humeau gives us an answer, at least we can imagine that another intelligent species exists in another space, and may have some influence on our history and futurism, as we examine the history that we have gone through, and even the traces of the world that existed before humans, for the possibility of future reproduction.

Humeau brings together biology and paleontology to find facts for her fantastical sculptures and installations. "If I wanted to find the truth," Humeau says, "I would use scientific facts, even speculation and fiction. I hope I can create a physical, supernatural and powerful experience." Her works focus not on the enjoyment of beauty, but on the logical narration of a fictional event. For example, she shows an extinct prehistoric creature, or a species in another space, that, through sight and sound, tells of a scientific reunderstanding of the world around us, and the impact that a broader understanding will have on our world.     Script:Will Wang
